Shelter is one of your most basic needs as human beings. But needing shelter doesn’t mean you can build wherever, whenever, however, and by whomever you want. In most cases you need a building permit. Building permits are essential to ensure your design/project is following the locally adopted codes, state regulations, and/or federal law.
