Records Division
The Weslaco Records Division is an essential part of the Weslaco Police Department, located at
300 South Bridge Ave.  

Hours of operation are as follows:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 
Records Division is closed on weekends and most city holidays.

The Records Division is responsible for the following:

  • Professional public service and efficient data entry services.
  • Obtaining reports that consist of vehicle accidents, offense reports, incident reports, etc.
  • Review and consolidation of reports
  • Open Record Request(s)
  • Local background checks 
  • Alarm permits
  • Court approved Expungements 
  • Record Keeping /Record Retention 
  • Funeral Escort Coordination


Request for Reports
You may request a copy of the accident  or Incident report by completing the Weslaco Police Department:
Police Report Request Form (PDF)
and submit in person or via mail.
If you are not a party on requested report, the Weslaco Records Division will divert this request as
an Open Records Request (see Open Records Request section for further information)

Open Records Request
Texas Government Code 552, also known as the Public Information Act, gives the public right of access to government information. However, exceptions and fees may apply to some requests. Fees are promulgated by sections 552.261 through 552.275 of the Texas Government Code. 

To obtain case reports:
The Records Division must, within ten (10) days of receiving the request (not to include holidays nor weekends), notify the requestor whether an exception applies or if there are any fees associated with request.

If delivery method is by mail, please submit a completed Public Information Form with a self-address stamped envelope and a check or money order payable to City of Weslaco.

Local Criminal Background
The Weslaco Police Department conducts local criminal background checks for Weslaco residents, and/or if the individual has had criminal history within the City of Weslaco (may include non-residents).  A resident is defined by the individual residing within the City of Weslaco city limits.  Upon request, valid proof of identity is needed. Forms of identity accepted at the Weslaco Police Department must be current and may be as follows:

  • Texas Driver's License or ID with current address
  • If your Texas Driver’s License or ID does not have your current address, a current Utility Bill with City of Weslaco MUST BE PROVIDED
  • Alternate tangible documents may be accepted at the discretion of the Support Services supervisor (i.e. Texas Medicaid, Medicare and/or SNAP forms/letters)
  • Passports
  • Matricula


Fingerprinting
Fingerprinting services are currently available at the Weslaco Police Department Monday -Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  

Any questions regarding fingerprinting services, contact our Records Division (956)968-8591.

Fingerprinting Service will require proper identification (i.e. state-issued Driver’s license, state-issued ID, military ID, Alien registration card, and/or Passport). All identification must be current and valid to process fingerprints. 


Alarm Permits
Registering Alarm System:
 
Both new and existing alarm systems may be filled out with the Weslaco Police Department for an Alarm Permit.  A non-refundable fee of $25.00 must accompany the application. If the application is approved, the permit is effective on the date issued and is suitable for one (1) year unless revoked for cause.  Forms are available at the Weslaco Police Department or online (Click on the links below):

Penalty for Alarm Operation without permit:

If a person operates an alarm system without a permit , he/she is subject to a fine of $200-$500. Each day of unpermitted operation is considered a separate violation. (Sec. 82-136)

Service Fee for False Alarms (Business and Residential):
A permitted site is allowed 3 false burglary alarms in one year.  After the first 3, a service fee of $50 will be assessed for each false burglary alarm. (False Alarms will be monitored daily) 

A permitted site is allowed two (2) false robbery alarms in one year. After the first 2, a service fee of $100 will be assessed for each false robbery alarm. (Sec. 82-130)


Services may be paid by cash in person and only by check through the mail.
Make check/money order payable to the City of Weslaco. (Do not send cash via mail).
