On November 15 2022, Mayor David Suarez and the Weslaco City Commission Recognized Cristina Garcia as the Public Information Officer for the City of Weslaco. Cristina is moving on in her career path, and it is a bittersweet moment as she departs from Weslaco. City Manager Martin Garza shared some words to Cristina. 
"We have been truly blessed to have a young lady like Cristina that worked for the City of Weslaco."

"She was hired during the pandemic, a time where communication was vital. As the first Public Information Officer, she had a tough job to fill as she was going to set the foundation for all those to come after her. The results as we know, speak for themselves." 
"On behalf of the Mayor and Commissioners, we want to thank you for your dedication, hard work, and professionalism. We wish you the best on all your future endeavors and know that you will always have Weslaco to call your home."
The Mayor and City Commissioners shared words of affection and encouragement to Cristina.
