City staff on standby amid ongoing tropical storm preparations

Our city leaders and administration continue preparing for rain that’s in the forecast. During our noon briefing today, our emergency management team ensured all departments are prepared for a potential tropical storm. 

Preparations include: 
☑️Cleaning of inlets by public works and parks departments 
☑️Deployment of barricades by our police department 
☑️Sandbag operations by public works 
☑️Road safety by police department 
☑️High water vehicles by our fire deparment 
☑️Pumps stationed to facilitate the flow of rainwater into ditches 
☑️All essential city personnel on standby

Although about 3 inches of rain is predicted to impact our area, we are prepared in the event the storm brings additional rainfall. 

Additionally, our sandbag operations continue until at least 2 p.m. at 255 S. Kansas Ave. in Weslaco.
